About

“Starting Fayego has been a real learning experience. The realisation that the mistakes are what makes the products better is something that’s only appreciated when it finally all comes together; and it does.” (Amelia Gordon, Company Founder)

Fayego began in 2020 during the pandemic. At this point I was managing two successful hospitality businesses which had sadly ground to a halt, and I was looking for ways to keep myself busy and further explore my creative side.

I’d always had an interest in natural healing and the power of plants and would regularly use essential oils for different purposes within my businesses. Combining this with my love for candle making, it felt like the perfect time to try something new.

My mission was to create a product that was sustainably made, British made, ethically made, reusable, looked good and smelt good.

Like a lot of candle makers, I began my craft putting the candle wax into multitudes of little brown glass jars, but I always felt uneasy about it. Whilst the glass could be recycled, the lids usually couldn’t, and they were generally too small to be repurposed.

In addition, I was aware that so many luxury candle brands used paraffin wax (which is often labelled as mineral wax as a way of attempting to sound plant based), and/or synthetic fragrances. They would state they were 100% natural wax, but not mention the scent, so consumers were unaware if they were burning a chemical-based fragrance or an essential oil.

Fayego Candles

Essential oils are a natural product that can affect and boost our mood in a way that perfumes and synthetic fragrances cannot, and there are so many oils to choose from. The candles from Fayego are purely made up of essential oils that have only been gathered by steam distillation. We carefully select oils that enhance, boost and calm the mood.

Wax & wick

Our candle wax is formed from a blend of organic soya, rapeseed which is farmed in the UK (and a sustainable crop) and coconut wax, which again is made purely from the coconut itself. We opted for wick made of hemp due to its sustainability properties.

Vessel & lid

We really wanted to support British makers, so we chose a steel spun pot made in Sheffield which was then powder coated.  For us, the lid was what really made all the difference as it made the vessel become reusable.  We use our vessels around our home and office for herbs and spices, cotton wool balls and even dog treats!

We’ve created a product that is sustainably made, British made, ethically made, reusable, looks good and smells good. We hope you like our products.
